AS Monaco secured a 2-1 victory over Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes, condemned the French champions to a 12th-place standing after three Ligue 1 fixtures. Despite PSG captain Marquinhos opening the scoring in the 31st minute by chesting a Khvicha Kvaratskhelia cross over the line, the visitors responded with two unanswered second-half strikes. Názinho equalized in the 58th minute, heading home a cross from Jordan Teze after the home defense failed to clear a loose ball. Stanis Idumbo then provided the decisive blow, beating Marquinhos before firing a rasping drive past goalkeeper Matvey Safonov at the near post.

This result marks Monaco’s third successive victory of the season and their third straight win over PSG. The visitors now sit two points clear of Lyon and Lille at the top of the table. For the Parisians, the defeat follows consecutive 2-2 draws against Rennes and Lille, leaving them without a win in their opening three matches. This encounter served as PSG's first home game of the campaign, following the relocation of their scheduled fixture against Rennes due to summer heatwaves damaging the pitch surface.

Marquinhos Scores but Monaco Responds

Marquinhos recorded his 28th league goal in his 14th Ligue 1 season to give the hosts an early advantage. The goal originated from Kvaratskhelia, who returned to the starting lineup alongside João Neves after both players missed the previous draw with Lille. Lucas Beraldo and Ferran Torres dropped to the bench to accommodate their return. Kvaratskhelia remained a constant threat, forcing a sharp save from Lukas Hradecky with a 20-yard effort that took a deflection off Eric Dier.

Désiré Doué had two early opportunities to score, but Hradecky denied him on both occasions, while Kvaratskhelia missed the target with a rebound following the second attempt. Monaco’s early offense saw Vanderson test Safonov from a narrow angle. Before the match, PSG announced that manager Luis Enrique, a double Champions League winner, had extended his contract until 2030. Monaco’s lineup featured Lamine Camara, who started the match after a potential transfer to Chelsea did not occur. However, striker Folarin Balogun was left out of the squad following the breakdown of his proposed move to Everton. The visitors capitalized on their momentum after Názinho's 58th-minute header, with Idumbo’s individual effort securing the full three points.

In the closing stages, PSG attempted to salvage a draw. Ferran Torres, appearing as a substitute, had a goal disallowed for offside. In the final seconds of the match, Ousmane Dembélé unleashed a shot that required a stunning save from Hradecky to preserve the Monaco lead.
