The National Hockey League Department of Player Safety officially announced a five-game Evgeni Malkin suspension on Monday evening. On-ice officials assessed a four-minute double-minor penalty for high-sticking after the veteran center struck defenseman Rasmus Dahlin in the face with his stick. Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, the Russian forward will forfeit $153,658.55 in salary. These funds are directed to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
