Packers Collapse Late in 39-22 Loss to Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings defeated the Green Bay Packers 39-22 on Sunday, outscoring their rivals 22-0 in the fourth quarter. Green Bay held a 22-10 lead early in the third quarter and led 22-17 in the final period before surrendering 29 unanswered points. The loss marks the Packers' sixth consecutive defeat dating back to last season, including four games where they blew leads of more than one score.

Quarterback Jordan Love completed two touchdown passes to Christian Watson and threw for 389 yards. However, Love was sacked four times, hit 15 times, and lost one fumble. The Vikings' defense recorded a pass rush win rate of 90.6%, the highest mark tracked by ESPN Analytics since 2022. Despite the offensive yardage, the Packers failed to convert a critical fourth-and-1 quarterback sneak with 13:17 remaining after coach Matt LaFleur opted to take a 40-yard Trey Smack field goal off the board following a Vikings offside penalty.

Defensive penalties further hampered Green Bay's efforts to maintain their lead. Officials nullified two third-down stops due to illegal contact by Javon Bullard and a roughing the passer call against Chris McClellan. Additionally, an end-zone interception by Evan Williams was overturned by a defensive holding penalty on Xavier McKinney. Cornerback Keisean Nixon recorded an interception in the first quarter, but the defense ultimately allowed backup quarterback Carson Wentz and the Vikings to erase a 12-point deficit.
