Defensive tackle Javon Hargrave will miss the remainder of the season after tests confirmed a torn Achilles suffered in the final minutes of Sunday's win.
Tests conducted Monday confirmed that Green Bay Packers defensive tackle Javon Hargrave sustained a season-ending torn Achilles during Sunday's 31-7 win against the Chicago Bears. A source told ESPN's Adam Schefter that the 33-year-old veteran was injured in the final minutes of the game following a pass-rush move. Hargrave was unable to put weight on his right leg and was carted off the field.
The injury marks the second time in two weeks the Packers have lost a defender to a torn Achilles, following linebacker Edgerrin Cooper's injury the previous week. Hargrave joined Green Bay this offseason on a two-year, $23 million contract that included a $10.5 million signing bonus. Before the injury, he appeared in four of the team's first five games, recording four tackles across 123 defensive snaps.
Green Bay's defensive line depth is further impacted by injuries to Warren Brinson, who is on injured reserve with calf and groin issues, and Jordon Riley, who remains on the physically unable to perform list. Hargrave had previously missed the Week 2 matchup against the New York Jets due to a knee injury and a concussion.
