Paris Saint-Germain secured a 4-2 victory against Manchester City as Erling Haaland's two goals were not enough to overcome a three-goal first-half deficit.

Paris Saint-Germain defeated Manchester City 4-2 on Wednesday at the Etihad Stadium, ending the hosts' eight-match winning streak under Enzo Maresca. Désiré Doué opened the scoring in the 13th minute, cutting inside from the left to beat Gianluigi Donnarumma at the near post. Ousmane Dembélé doubled the lead two minutes later, heading home a return ball from Doué. Vitinha extended the advantage to 3-0 in the 32nd minute, striking the ball following a lay-off from Warren Zaïre-Emery.

Erling Haaland initiated a Manchester City fightback in the second half, heading in a cross from substitute Iliman Ndiaye. The goal marked Haaland's 38th in the Champions League from 41 appearances, making him the club's record scorer in the competition. PSG responded when Maghnes Akliouche’s long-range effort took a bounce past Donnarumma to make it 4-1. Haaland scored his second of the night in the 75th minute off an Ayyoub Bouaddi pass, but the Norwegian was denied a hat trick by a close-range Matvei Safonov save.

Manchester City hit the woodwork twice during the second period, including a sequence involving Enzo Fernández and Haaland. The hosts also saw a penalty appeal turned down when Rayan Cherki fell during a challenge with Marquinhos. In stoppage time, Donnarumma prevented a fifth PSG goal by saving a penalty taken by Ferran Torres. The match marked Pep Guardiola's first return to the Etihad since his departure last summer, occurring shortly after the club was found guilty of financial irregularities.
