Parma dismissed head coach Carlos Cuesta on Sunday following a start to the Serie A season that produced only four points from five matches. While the club defeated Genoa last weekend, an internal discussion led to a mutual agreement to end the working relationship, with the club stating that conditions for the sporting project were not being met. Cuesta, who was appointed in June 2025 at age 29, departs as the youngest manager in Europe's top five leagues.
The former Arsenal assistant led the team to a 13th-place finish last season before this year’s early struggles. This departure marks the third coaching change in Serie A this season, following managerial shifts at Fiorentina and Bologna. Parma has not yet named a replacement for the Spaniard, who previously spent five years working under Mikel Arteta.
Parma’s next fixture is scheduled for Oct. 10 against reigning Serie A champions Inter Milan. The match will take place following the conclusion of the international break.
