New England Patriots left tackle Will Campbell has been diagnosed with an MCL sprain in his right knee and is expected to miss upcoming game action, a source told ESPN on Tuesday. The injury occurred during the second quarter of a game against the Las Vegas Raiders when a defender tackled running back Rhamondre Stevenson into Campbell’s leg. While the 2025 first-round pick is sidelined, the team believes this injury is less severe than the Grade 3 torn MCL Campbell suffered on the same knee in November 2023.
Rookie first-round pick Caleb Lomu, who played at Utah, replaced Campbell during the game and is considered a top candidate to start at left tackle moving forward. Head coach Mike Vrabel noted that Lomu performed well in relief. The Patriots' offensive line depth may also receive a boost from 2025 seventh-round pick Marcus Bryant, who was eligible to return to practice last week after being placed on injured reserve during final roster cuts.
In addition to the offensive line changes, the Patriots are managing several other roster updates. Sources told ESPN that running back TreVeyon Henderson is expected to miss multiple weeks due to a high ankle sprain. Conversely, Vrabel indicated there is a chance wide receiver A.J. Brown could be activated from injured reserve in time for Sunday's game against the New York Jets.
