Payton Pritchard has agreed to a two-year, $44.2 million extension with the Boston Celtics that includes a mutual option for the 2029-30 season.

Boston Celtics guard Payton Pritchard has agreed to a fully guaranteed two-year, $44.2 million contract extension, agents Austin Brown and Max Saidman told ESPN on Tuesday. The deal, which adds to his current contract ending in 2028, includes a mutual option for the 2029-30 season. Pritchard is scheduled to earn over $21 million during the 2028-29 campaign, followed by a mutual option worth nearly $23 million the following year.

The 28-year-old guard is coming off a season where he averaged career highs of 17 points, 5.2 assists, and 3.9 rebounds per game. Pritchard started 50 games last year and saw his touches per game increase from 51.8 to nearly 70. This performance earned him the 2025 NBA Sixth Man of the Year award, following his 2024 NBA championship win with the franchise.

Statistically, the 6-foot-1 guard is one of only four players in Celtics history to record at least 200 3-pointers in multiple seasons, joining Jayson Tatum, Derrick White, and Antoine Walker. Pritchard has appeared in 241 games over the last three years, tying him for the third-most appearances in the NBA during that period. The former No. 26 overall pick in the 2020 NBA draft is currently earning $7.8 million this season and is set to make $8.3 million next year before the new extension begins.
