Payton Talbott defeated former champion Deiveson Figueiredo via knockout at 2:11 of the first round during the UFC 332 co-main event in Salt Lake City. Talbott dropped the 38-year-old Figueiredo twice during the brief encounter, marking his second consecutive victory over a former titleholder. The event established a new UFC record with 11 total knockouts, nine of which occurred in the opening round.
In the main event, Natalia Silva became the new women's flyweight champion by defeating Wang Cong via unanimous decision. Silva, 29, utilized superior speed and precision to neutralize Wang, who entered the bout with a 10-1 MMA record but lacked experience against top-10 opponents. With this victory, Silva joins men's flyweight champion Joshua Van as the only current UFC titleholders under the age of 30.
The championship bout was created after Valentina Shevchenko vacated the title due to an undisclosed injury expected to sideline her for up to one year. While Wang previously held a 2015 kickboxing victory over Shevchenko, she was unable to mount significant offense against Silva until the fifth round. Silva entered the contest having won three straight fights against former champions Jessica Andrade, Alexa Grasso, and Rose Namajunas.
