Pep Guardiola is set to attend Manchester City’s Champions League fixture against Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday.
Pep Guardiola is expected to be in the stands at the Etihad Stadium this Wednesday for Manchester City’s Champions League match against reigning European champions Paris Saint-Germain, sources told ESPN. The 55-year-old’s appearance marks his first return to the stadium since stepping down as manager at the conclusion of last season.
This fixture serves as the club's first home game following a verdict that found Manchester City guilty of breaching Premier League financial rules. The breaches cited in the case took place between 2009 and 2018. During his 10-year tenure beginning in 2016, Guardiola secured 20 trophies for the club.
Following the publication of the independent commission's findings, the former manager released a social media statement affirming his support for the owner, chairman, and current manager Enzo Maresca. While the club has filed a formal appeal against the ruling, leadership including CEO Ferran Soriano and chairman Khaldoon Al-Mubarak maintain that the organization will be cleared of wrongdoing. Before hosting PSG, Manchester City travel to Anfield to face Liverpool on Sunday.
