Reliever Isaac Mattson was placed on the 15-day injured list with right hip inflammation, a move retroactive to Sept. 6.

The Pittsburgh Pirates placed right-handed reliever Isaac Mattson on the 15-day injured list prior to Tuesday's game against the White Sox. According to the Associated Press, the move is retroactive to Sept. 6 and stems from right hip inflammation. Mattson, who holds a 5.35 ERA across 38 2/3 innings this season, last appeared on Saturday against the Los Angeles Angels, where he surrendered three runs on four hits during a 6-1 defeat.

Manager Don Kelly stated that the 31-year-old pitcher requires rest and rehabilitation to address the hip condition. In a corresponding roster move, the club recalled left-hander Brandon Eisert from Triple-A Indianapolis. Eisert has posted a 6.23 ERA in 8 2/3 innings for Pittsburgh this year after being acquired from the White Sox on July 11 in a trade involving infielder Jacob Gonzalez and left-hander Jaden Woods.

Mattson is currently in his fourth major league season and his third with the Pirates organization. Eisert enters the active roster with a combined 2-2 record and a 6.00 ERA over 36 total innings of work this year.
