Coach Mauricio Pochettino stated that Philadelphia Union attacker Cavan Sullivan is mature enough to feature in Saturday's friendly against Peru.

United States men's national team coach Mauricio Pochettino announced that 16-year-old attacker Cavan Sullivan is prepared to make his international debut during the current window. While Pochettino did not commit to a specific role for Sullivan in Saturday's friendly against Peru, he noted the teenager's readiness based on recent form with the Philadelphia Union. Sullivan enters the squad having recorded six goals and eight assists across his last eight league appearances.

If Sullivan takes the field on Saturday, he will become the youngest player to suit up for the USMNT since Freddy Adu. Pochettino described the prospect as "mature enough on the field" during a Friday pre-match news conference in Orlando. The manager indicated he would utilize a blend of youth and experience for the upcoming match, relying on training data to finalize his lineup selections.

Sullivan is one of several young players integrated into a roster that features 13 veterans from the previous World Cup. Pochettino highlighted the "contagious" energy and talent displayed by the newcomers during this week's training sessions. To evaluate character and personality off the pitch, the coaching staff required young players to perform a song in front of the team and staff during a group dinner.
