Justin Ellis scored in the 29th minute to secure a 1-0 win for the U.S. against Canada, completing a perfect four-game international window.

The U.S. men’s national team defeated Canada 1-0 on Tuesday in St. Paul, Minnesota, behind a 29th-minute goal from Justin Ellis. Ellis, who played through a leg injury, redirected a driven pass from Alex Freeman to secure the victory. The result capped a perfect FIFA window for manager Mauricio Pochettino, whose side won four consecutive matches across three different time zones.

During the two-and-a-half-week period, all 28 players on the U.S. roster earned at least one cap. The window saw 13 players make their international debuts, while seven different players—including four teenagers—recorded goals. Defensively, goalkeeper Brian Schwake preserved the shutout against Canada by tipping a Luc de Fougerolles volley onto the crossbar during the second half.

Pochettino challenged his squad to carry this competitive standard back to their respective clubs, emphasizing that international status requires increased work rates for teammates. The manager noted that the team maintained consistent passion and commitment despite the heavy schedule of four games in 14 days. He attributed the performance to a positive environment where no negative comments were reported among the staff or players.

The U.S. advances to the Concacaf Nations League quarterfinals to face Haiti. The second leg of that home-and-away series is scheduled for Nov. 17 in Cincinnati. Pochettino stated he expects the group to easily transition this level of intensity into the November window.
