Coach Sean McVay announced a full evaluation of the Rams kicking unit after two missed field goals contributed to a 37-34 loss against the Bills.

The Los Angeles Rams dropped to a 2-3 record following a 37-34 overtime defeat against the Buffalo Bills on Monday night. Kicker Harrison Mevis missed a 50-yard field goal wide left during the first quarter and saw a potential game-winning 48-yard attempt blocked in the overtime period. Following the loss, head coach Sean McVay stated the team will "evaluate everything" regarding the kicking unit, noting that the special teams performance cost the team the game.

Los Angeles currently sits in third place in the NFC West, trailing the 5-0 San Francisco 49ers and the 3-2 Seattle Seahawks. Despite the loss, quarterback Matthew Stafford completed 40 of 54 passes for 383 yards and three touchdowns. Wide receiver Puka Nacua recorded 17 receptions for 138 yards and one touchdown, while running back Kyren Williams was held to no gain on a critical third-and-5 rush from the Buffalo 30-yard line immediately preceding the blocked overtime kick.

According to ESPN Research, the Rams have seen 81 missed or blocked kicks since McVay took over in 2017, the third-highest total in the NFL. The team has also suffered three blocked field goal attempts since the beginning of last season, which ties for the most in the league. McVay expressed regret regarding the third-down play call in overtime, suggesting he should have provided an opportunity to go for a first down rather than settling for the blocked field goal attempt.
