The Tennessee Titans released defensive lineman Jordan Elliott following a dispute with teammate JC Latham that led Elliott to retrieve a firearm from his vehicle.

Tennessee Titans head coach Robert Saleh characterized a gun-related incident involving Jordan Elliott as "a call for help more than a criminal act" during a Wednesday press conference. The Titans released the 28-year-old defensive lineman on Tuesday following an undisclosed incident at the team facility last Thursday. According to a source via NFL Network, Elliott attempted to retrieve a firearm from his parked car after an altercation with offensive lineman JC Latham, though the weapon never left the player's parking spot.

Defensive lineman John Franklin-Myers assisted in deescalating the situation, which the NFL is currently reviewing. The league's firearm policy strictly prohibits personnel from possessing weapons at any team or league facilities, including parking lots. Saleh confirmed that while the organization and the NFL followed protocol regarding the violation, he continues to vouch for the character of the seven-year veteran, noting Elliott has no prior criminal record.

Elliott joined the Titans this offseason on a two-year deal worth up to $8.5 million. Before his release, he appeared in five games this season, recording 11 tackles and one start. Latham stated on Wednesday that he had no previous confrontations with Elliott and expressed a desire to reach out to his former teammate. Saleh indicated he would endorse Elliott to other NFL teams as a run-stopping defensive tackle for a playoff run.
