Augsburg midfielder Robin Fellhauer scored the fastest goal in Bundesliga history on Saturday, finding the net just eight seconds into a draw against Bayern Munich. The record-breaking sequence began immediately after Bayern kicked off, when goalkeeper Manuel Neuer received the first pass of the game from the center circle. Fellhauer intercepted the ball as Neuer attempted to lift a touch over him, allowing the Augsburg player to dribble around the keeper and finish into an empty net.
This eight-second strike surpassed the previous record of nine seconds held by both Kevin Volland and Karim Bellarabi. Following the early opener, Ismael Saibari equalized for the visitors after the halftime break. Rodrigo Ribeiro later restored the lead for Augsburg with a tap-in, but Nathaniel Brown scored a late goal to secure a point for Bayern Munich.
The result caused Bayern Munich to drop from the top of the Bundesliga table, while Augsburg climbed into fifth place. Other notable early goals in league history include 11-second efforts by Ulf Kirsten against FC Kaiserslautern and Giovane Elber against Hamburger SV, according to ESPN Global Research.
