Eagles running back Saquon Barkley returned to full practice participation on Friday and intends to play Monday night against Chicago.
Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley was listed as a full participant in Friday's practice as he prepares to play Monday night against the Chicago Bears. Barkley underwent an MRI on Monday following a stinger suffered on the first offensive snap of last Sunday's game. After being limited during Thursday's session, his return to full activity indicates he will be available for the Week 3 matchup.
Barkley sustained the injury when he was tackled for no gain by defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons. The 29-year-old back played just 10 of 72 offensive snaps in that contest, finishing with four carries for 9 yards. To prevent further issues, Barkley plans to wear a modified neck roll on Monday night designed to provide stability while allowing for greater mobility than the version he briefly wore during his second-half return last Sunday.
Through two games this season, Barkley has recorded 92 rushing yards on 19 carries, averaging 4.8 yards per attempt. He has not missed a full game due to injury since joining Philadelphia over two years ago. The veteran running back noted that he is incorporating neck strengthening into his routine to address the injury and stated he intends to play without hesitation against Chicago.
