Cristiano Ronaldo and other Saudi Pro League players can now claim a share of revenue by promoting match links to their social media followers.

The Saudi Pro League has launched a new 'Share and Earn' initiative allowing players like Cristiano Ronaldo to generate revenue by sharing links to individual matches or game bundles. According to ESPN, participants who promote these links on their social media platforms will receive a portion of the revenue generated when fans click through to a league-owned streaming platform. Ronaldo, who joined Al Nassr in 2022 and has over one billion followers across his digital accounts, could see significant financial gains from this model during what he has indicated may be his final season before retirement.

Under this partnership, selected publishers also have the option to host live and on-demand Pro League content directly on their own platforms, provided they receive league approval. This distribution method mirrors the Bundesliga's UK model involving Mark Goldbridge and Jamie Vardy, where match streams are embedded within partner platforms. The league's chief executive, Omar Mugharbel, stated the move aims to connect the competition with fans through trusted creators and digital communities.

Content shared through this model will be viewable in 16 specific territories, including the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, and New Zealand. Other participating regions include Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Serbia, South Korea, Malta, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Cyprus, and Greece. The initiative is designed to democratize distribution while giving clubs and players a stake in reaching new international audiences.
