Seahawks Lead NFL Future Power Rankings with 88.7 Score Through 2029

The Seattle Seahawks earned the top spot in the NFL Future Power Rankings for 2027-2029, bolstered by a 2025 DVOA that rivaled the 2007 Patriots.

The Seattle Seahawks lead the NFL Future Power Rankings for the 2027-2029 seasons with an overall score of 88.7. This projection, calculated by analysts Louis Riddick, Aaron Schatz, Ben Solak, and Seth Walder, weights quarterback situations at 20%, non-QB rosters at 30%, front offices at 25%, and coaching at 25%. Seattle’s ranking is anchored by a 2025 campaign that produced the highest DVOA of any team since the 2007 Patriots. While QB Sam Darnold led a Super Bowl run, he ranked 27th out of 30 quarterbacks in QBR from Weeks 10 to 18, leading to predictions that he may not be on the roster by 2028.

Following Seattle, the Philadelphia Eagles rank second with an 88.1 score. The Eagles feature the league's youngest projected defense with an average age of 25.6 years among their top 12 players. Only Jonathan Greenard and Zack Baun are aged over 27 in that group. The Detroit Lions hold the third spot at 86.2, despite ranking 26th in pass rush win rate last season. Aidan Hutchinson, who recorded 7.5 sacks and a 35.0% pass rush win rate in five games during 2024, is projected as a future Defensive Player of the Year candidate.

Defensive Dominance and Roster Depth

The Denver Broncos rank fourth with an 85.6 score, driven by a defense that allowed cornerback Ja'Quan McMillian to record minus-19 expected points added on targets, the fourth-best mark in the league. McMillian also maintained tight coverage on 17% of snaps. The Broncos' offensive line presents an age gap, ranging from 28-year-old Quinn Meinerz to 34-year-old Garett Bolles, with 2026 fourth-rounder Kage Casey serving as the only recent draft addition to the unit.

At fifth, the Los Angeles Rams (85.3) led the NFL in run stop win rate at 34% and ranked eighth in pass rush win rate at 40%. The roster adds Myles Garrett to a unit that may still include Aaron Donald. Quarterback Matthew Stafford is coming off a season described as his best statistically, resulting in an MVP award. However, projections suggest coach Sean McVay will pivot to light offensive personnel by 2028 to create advantages for a new quarterback following the Stafford era.

AFC Contenders and Young Quarterbacks

The New England Patriots sit at sixth with an 84.6 score. Quarterback Drake Maye finished his second year ranked eighth in DYAR among sophomore passers, trailing only Dan Marino, Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, Daunte Culpepper, Brock Purdy, Justin Herbert, and Peyton Manning. The Patriots are projected to reach a top-six pass-protecting rank if Will Campbell and Caleb Lomu develop alongside established guard Mike Onwenu.

Green Bay occupies the seventh spot at 84.4. The Packers were the youngest NFL team by snap-weighted age in 2025, ranking 30th on offense and 31st on defense. Edge rusher Micah Parsons, who holds a 29% career pass rush win rate since 2021, is recovering from an ACL tear. The Houston Texans follow at eighth (84.3), despite a drop in pass rush win rate from 49% in 2024 to 35% last season. Cornerback Kamari Lassiter recorded tight coverage on 22.3% of snaps, ranking sixth among qualifying corners.

Baltimore and Los Angeles Outlooks

The Baltimore Ravens rank ninth with an 83.7 score. Wide receiver Zay Flowers accounted for 36.9% of the team's receiving yards last season, the second-highest share in the league. Defensively, the Ravens struggled in 2025, ranking 28th in pass rush win rate and 31st in preventing plays of 20-plus yards. The Los Angeles Chargers round out the top 10 with an 83.5 score, led by the combination of Justin Herbert and coach Jim Harbaugh. The experts utilized a grading scale where 100 represents an A+ (elite) and scores of 50 or below are considered disastrous.
