Kenneth Walker III recorded a season-low 36 rushing yards on 14 attempts as the Kansas City Chiefs fell 20-3 to the Seattle Seahawks.
The Seattle Seahawks defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 20-3 on Sunday night, holding running back Kenneth Walker III to a season-low 36 rushing yards on 14 carries. In his return to Seattle, Walker failed to record a single run of 10 or more yards against a defense that utilized nickel or dime personnel for all 50 of Kansas City's offensive snaps. The Seahawks extended their streak to 35 consecutive games without allowing a 100-yard rusher.
Kansas City’s offense struggled to move the ball, finishing with just three points, which tied the lowest total in a game started by 10-year veteran Patrick Mahomes. For the first time in Mahomes' 153 career starts, the Chiefs failed to reach the red zone. Mahomes completed four passes to Walker for 21 receiving yards but threw a second-quarter interception that Seattle converted into a touchdown to take a 10-point lead.
According to Next Gen Stats, Walker managed only 19 yards on eight attempts when facing seven defenders in the box. Prior to this matchup, Walker led the NFL with 665 rushing yards through five games. The Chiefs played without several key starters, including tackle Josh Simmons, right tackle Jaylon Moore, and receivers Rashee Rice and Tyquan Thornton. Kansas City's active wide receivers combined for only six receptions totaling 39 yards in the loss.
