Sean Sharaf defeated Gable Steveson via knockout just 12 seconds into the first round at UFC 331 on Saturday night in Los Angeles. Sharaf, a former U.S. Marine who entered the Octagon with a 0-2 UFC record, landed a right hand followed by a left hook to the chin to render Steveson unconscious. The victory, occurring at Crypto.com Arena, ranks as the third-fastest finish in the history of the UFC heavyweight division.

ESPN reports that the result marks the first defeat for Steveson, whose professional record moved to 4-1. The 2020 U.S. Olympic wrestling gold medalist and two-time NCAA Division I national champion was hit by the second punch Sharaf threw in the contest. Steveson had arrived at the venue accompanied by his mentor, Jon Jones, having been regarded as a top prospect since his transition to mixed martial arts in 2025.

Sharaf improved his overall record to 5-2 with the win. Prior to this bout, both of Sharaf's UFC appearances had ended in knockout losses. Steveson was competing in his second fight inside the Octagon when the stoppage occurred.
