Sebastian Berhalter Leads USMNT to 4-2 Victory Over Chile

Sebastian Berhalter recorded a goal and an assist on Tuesday to lead the U.S. men's national team to a 4-2 victory over Chile. This performance follows a 4-1 win against Peru last week, where the 25-year-old midfielder also produced a goal and an assist. Berhalter has now contributed to four of the eight goals scored by the U.S. during the current international break.

Since joining Middlesbrough in the English Championship from the Vancouver Whitecaps in August, Berhalter has tallied two goals and two assists across 10 appearances in all competitions. His club currently sits third in the Championship table with only one defeat through eight games. The midfielder previously made two goal contributions during his first FIFA World Cup appearance in June.

U.S. coach Mauricio Pochettino noted that Berhalter played multiple roles during the win, including positions on the left and right, box-to-box midfielder, holding midfielder, and as a No. 10. The squad for this window features 13 uncapped players, including teenagers Cavan Sullivan, Mathis Albert, and Adri Mehmeti. The USMNT is scheduled to face Mexico in a friendly on Saturday in Arizona.
