Boston Common Golf acquired Shane Lowry from The Bay Golf Club in exchange for future roster selections and commercial considerations.

Boston Common Golf acquired Shane Lowry from The Bay Golf Club in the first-ever trade in TGL history, the league announced Monday. In exchange for the 2019 Open Championship winner, The Bay Golf Club received Boston Common’s fourth selection for each of the next three offseasons to fill open roster spots, along with commercial considerations. Lowry, currently ranked 41st in the Official World Golf Ranking, joins a roster that featured Rory McIlroy, Keegan Bradley, Adam Scott, and Hideki Matsuyama last season.

Lowry is scheduled to make his debut for the Boston franchise on Jan. 2 at the SoFi Center. The match marks the opening of the third TGL season against Los Angeles Golf Club. The trade occurs as the league expands team rosters to five players for the upcoming campaign. Boston Common Golf indicated that its full roster will be released shortly.

A 10-time winner worldwide, Lowry’s career highlights include a victory at Royal Portrush Golf Club during the 2019 Open Championship. He joins his teammate Rory McIlroy as the club seeks a championship in the simulator-based league.
