Executive vice president Stephen Jones told 105.3 The Fan on Monday that head coach Brian Schottenheimer retains the full support of Cowboys ownership. The announcement follows a 23-13 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, which dropped Dallas to a 2-4 record. Schottenheimer, who also serves as the offensive playcaller, has coached the team to a 9-13-1 record over 23 games.
Recent offensive struggles include Dak Prescott throwing four interceptions during a two-game losing streak. The Cowboys scored 29 total points in those two contests, the lowest output in a two-game span for Prescott since 2024. Additionally, the Dallas rushing attack ranks 30th in the NFL, totaling 456 yards through six games. Against Green Bay, Prescott averaged 4.8 yards per attempt while CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens were limited by the Packers' defense.
Dallas faces the 2-4 Philadelphia Eagles next week on ESPN’s "Monday Night Football." Schottenheimer noted that four of the team's next five opponents—Philadelphia, Arizona, Indianapolis, and Tennessee—hold a combined record of 7-17. On Nov. 15, the Cowboys are scheduled to host the undefeated 5-0 San Francisco 49ers.
