Tetairoa McMillan caught 14 passes for 192 yards and two touchdowns to help the Carolina Panthers even their record at 2-2.
The Carolina Panthers defeated the Detroit Lions 32-36 on Sunday night, led by wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan’s 14 receptions for 192 yards and two touchdowns. Quarterback Bryce Young completed the scoring effort with 329 passing yards and two touchdowns, guiding the offense to six scoring drives. The victory moved Carolina to a 2-2 record for the season.
McMillan accounted for 43.1% of the Panthers' net offense while playing without sidelined teammates Jalen Coker and Xavier Legette. The performance saw McMillan set new career highs, surpassing his previous bests of eight catches and 130 yards on 16 total targets. He became only the second player in franchise history to record at least 175 receiving yards and two touchdowns in a single game, joining Steve Smith Sr.
Young has now thrown nine passing touchdowns through four games, establishing a new franchise record. Under offensive coordinator Brad Idzik, the Panthers have produced 22 scoring drives in the first four weeks of the season, the highest total for the team since 2000.
Lions coach Dan Campbell noted that Carolina utilized run-pass option plays and quick strikes up the seam to target McMillan early in the contest. Despite what coach Dave Canales described as a difficult week of practice between the quarterback and his primary receiver, the duo connected for two scores to secure the primetime win.
