Tennessee Titans cornerback Alontae Taylor is inactive for Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts. According to a team source cited by ESPN, the benching is a coach's decision and is not related to an injury. Taylor, who signed a three-year, $58 million contract in March, had played 99.7% of the team's defensive snaps through the first five games of the season. He currently has 19 tackles and one sack for the 0-5 Titans.
Veteran cornerback Josh Williams will start in Taylor's place after being activated from injured reserve on Saturday. Williams joined the team in March on a two-year, $8 million deal. To provide further depth, the Titans elevated cornerback Isaiah Oliver from the practice squad for the contest. These roster moves come as the Tennessee secondary enters the game with two total interceptions and zero pass breakups from the cornerback group this season.
The Titans defense will also be missing starting safety Kevin Winston Jr., who is sidelined by a quad injury. Additionally, starting defensive tackle Jordan Elliott is inactive for the matchup. Elliott did not travel with the team after missing Friday's practice for personal reasons.
