New Orleans Saints quarterback Tyler Shough has two broken bones in his left hand but has not missed playing time.

New Orleans Saints quarterback Tyler Shough is playing with two broken bones in his left hand following a 45-24 loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Oct. 5. According to ESPN sources, the injury involves fractures to the ring and pinky fingers of his non-throwing hand, which are currently taped together. Despite the diagnosis, Shough has remained a full participant in practice and intends to play through the injury, which one source estimated could take a couple of months to fully heal.

During a 23-13 loss to the Minnesota Vikings last week, Shough wore a protective glove over a heavily bandaged hand and altered his mechanics by handing off with his right hand. He finished that contest with a career-low 96 passing yards and two interceptions against a Vikings defense that has allowed the fewest points in the NFL. The loss dropped the Saints to a 1-4 record, prompting owner Gayle Benson to publicly label the start "not acceptable" while calling out general manager Mickey Loomis and coach Kellen Moore.

Through five games this season, Shough has completed 66.8% of his passes for 1,299 yards, ranking seventh in the league. He has recorded 205 pass attempts, the second-highest total in the NFL, and has been sacked 13 times. Shough is expected to continue using a protective glove for Sunday's matchup against the New York Giants. Following that game, the Saints travel to Paris to face the Pittsburgh Steelers before a bye week provides additional recovery time.
