Tyquan Thornton recorded a career-high 111 receiving yards before suffering a dislocated left ankle in the Chiefs' 30-27 win over the Raiders.
The Kansas City Chiefs improved to 4-0 on Sunday with a 30-27 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders, but lost wide receiver Tyquan Thornton to a dislocated left ankle. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, team doctors put the ankle back into place after Thornton was tackled from behind by rookie free safety Treydan Stukes in the fourth quarter. The injury occurred at the end of a 55-yard reception at Allegiant Stadium. Thornton, who left the venue on crutches, finished the game with five receptions for a career-high 111 yards and two touchdowns.
Coach Andy Reid stated that Thornton is out indefinitely and will undergo a full evaluation on Monday morning, including a second opinion. The Chiefs also saw receiver Rashee Rice exit in the first quarter due to a right hamstring injury sustained during a seven-yard catch. While Rice was held out as a precaution, the two players have combined for 409 yards and three touchdowns through the first four weeks of the season.
In response to the injuries, a team source confirmed the Chiefs have remained in contact with free agent wide receiver Tyreek Hill and his agent, Drew Rosenhaus. Hill, a 10-year veteran, was released by the Miami Dolphins in February after suffering a season-ending dislocated left knee and torn ACL in Week 4 of the previous year. The Chiefs believe Hill is targeting a November return, as the receiver recently posted on social media that he is preparing to return to work.
