Tyson Bagent is in the NFL's concussion protocol following a sack on the final play of Chicago's 9-3 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.
Chicago Bears quarterback Tyson Bagent has entered the NFL's concussion protocol, according to reporting from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport on Tuesday. Bagent completed 5-of-9 passes for 54 yards during Sunday's 9-3 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. He entered the game after starter Caleb Williams exited with a right hamstring injury. Bagent was sacked by Dallas Turner on the final play of the contest after the linebacker beat tight end Colston Loveland.
The injuries to both Bagent and Williams leave the Bears' quarterback depth chart uncertain ahead of a Monday night game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Third-string veteran Case Keenum is currently the next option to start, though he has not appeared in a regular-season game since 2023. While Williams underwent an MRI on Monday morning, coach Ben Johnson described the results as "somewhat encouraging" and labeled the starter as week-to-week.
Johnson noted that he does not expect Williams to practice this week, but the team has not yet ruled him out for the upcoming matchup against Philadelphia. Bagent has served as the primary backup in Chicago since joining the roster as an undrafted free agent in 2023.
