Nineteen-year-old Justin Ellis scored the lone goal of the match in the first half, connecting with a zipped service from defender Alex Freeman. The scoring sequence began with a hockey assist from Malik Tillman. The victory allowed manager Mauricio Pochettino to finish the fall international break with a perfect 4W-0D-0L record.

Canada committed nine fouls within the opening 18 minutes of a physical first half. Following the break, the Canadian side controlled more possession but failed to beat U.S. goalkeeper Brian Schwake, who recorded three saves and one high claim.
