The U.S. men's national team secured a 3-0 victory over Mexico in a friendly at State Farm Stadium on Saturday night. Julian Hall, 18, opened the scoring midway through the first half, marking his third goal in three appearances during this international window. Despite Mexico controlling 61% of possession in the first half, the U.S. took further command after Mexico fullback Mateo Chávez was sent off with a red card in the 67th minute.
Cavan Sullivan, 17, became the youngest goalscorer in U.S. men's soccer history during the second half. Sullivan intercepted a pass from Mexico goalkeeper Raúl Rangel before chipping the ball into the net. Malik Tillman added a third goal near the final whistle, capitalizing on a steal in the opposition's final third to beat Rangel.
Defensively, the U.S. relied on goalkeeper Diego Kochen, who recorded a clean sheet and one significant save. Fullback Alex Freeman earned a 9/10 rating for his defensive interventions and his role in the buildup to the opening goal. Manager Mauricio Pochettino, who received an 8/10 rating, will now lead the roster into a friendly against Canada on Tuesday.
Midfielder Tyler Adams captained the side, focusing on lateral distribution, while Sebastian Berhalter contributed through-balls to create chances in the final third. Substitutes Yunus Musah and Justin Ellis entered the match in the 65th minute, with Musah connecting well on the right flank following Sullivan's exit.
