Cavan Sullivan became the youngest scorer in USMNT history during a 3-0 win over Mexico on Saturday.

The United States men’s national team defeated Mexico 3-0 on Saturday in Glendale, Arizona, behind goals from teenagers Julian Hall and Cavan Sullivan. Hall opened the scoring in the 28th minute, converting from close range after Mexico goalkeeper Raúl Rangel spilled a low cross from Gio Reyna. Sullivan doubled the lead in the 62nd minute by intercepting a pass from Rangel and chipping the ball into the net from 35 yards out. Malik Tillman finalized the scoreline in the 84th minute, capitalizing on another wayward Mexican pass.

At 17 years old, Sullivan became the youngest scorer in USMNT history. Hall, 18, became only the third player to score in each of his first three appearances for the national team. Mexico finished the match with 10 men after Mateo Chávez received a red card in the 67th minute following an altercation with Sebastian Berhalter.

Coach Mauricio Pochettino described the influx of high-performing young talent as a "fantastic problem to have." While Mexico controlled the opening 20 minutes and forced the U.S. to play back, the USMNT improved after surviving early pressure. Pochettino specifically highlighted Sullivan’s work rate, noting the player's ability to recover the ball and maintain balance both in and out of possession.
