Forward Maddie DiMaria scored six goals as the U.S. under-17 women's national team secured a record-breaking 17-0 win over Samoa.
The United States under-17 women's national team established a new FIFA World Cup record for the largest margin of victory in history by defeating Samoa 17-0 on Monday in Rabat, Morocco. Forward Maddie DiMaria opened the scoring 63 seconds into the match and finished with six goals, becoming the first player to reach that total in a single FIFA women's World Cup match at any level. The U.S. surpassed the previous all-time tournament record of 16-0 set by Morocco against New Caledonia in the 2025 men's U-17 event.
Ten different Americans appeared on the scoresheet as the team recorded 58 total shots. The U.S. led 9-0 at halftime, equaling Germany's 2010 record for goals scored in a single half. Carolina Reyna and Loradana Paletta each netted two goals during the Group E opener. Additional scoring contributions came from Mia Corona, Grace Murray, Amari Manning, Deus Stanislaus, Isa Ortiz, Melia Brewer, and Gianna Hanf.
DiMaria’s six-goal performance eclipsed the previous American record of five goals in a World Cup match held by Michelle Akers (1991) and Alex Morgan (2019). She is the first player to score at least six times in a FIFA finals match since Erling Haaland scored nine for Norway in the 2019 U-20 World Cup. Following this victory, the U.S. is scheduled to face Kenya on Thursday, who lost their opening match to China PR by a score of 3-0.
