Valencia dismissed coach Carlos Corberán and chief executive officer Ron Gourlay on Sunday with the club sitting bottom of LaLiga. A 1-0 defeat at Sevilla on Friday marked the team's fourth consecutive loss, leaving Los Ché with a single point through their opening five fixtures. During this stretch, the squad scored once while conceding 10 goals.

Corberán, who took over in December 2024, led the team to 12th and ninth-place finishes in his two previous seasons. Despite signing a contract extension through 2028 this past July, he departs with a total record of 28 wins and 26 losses across 72 matches. The club also terminated the contracts of Corberán's coaching staff and four employees working under Gourlay.

According to ESPN, the dismissals follow a 5-0 loss to Barcelona last weekend, after which midfielder Rodri apologized for calling Valencia "very weak." The club has appointed VCF Mestalla coach Óscar Sánchez as interim manager to oversee the first team. Additionally, Braulio Vazquez has returned to the organization as sporting director, a position he previously held between 2010 and 2013. Valencia is scheduled to play at Alavés on Tuesday.
