Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany is undergoing medical tests after collapsing during a reserve team training session on Friday.

Bayern Munich confirmed that head coach Vincent Kompany, 40, was hospitalized on Friday after collapsing while watching a training session for the club's reserve team. The manager is currently undergoing thorough examinations and will remain under medical care. This incident follows a week where Kompany struggled with a viral infection that caused leg pain and required him to remain seated during a 6-1 Bundesliga victory over Leipzig on Saturday.

Director of sport Max Eberl stated that the coaching staff will oversee all training and match activities until further notice. Assistant Aaron Danks previously assumed media and training duties on Tuesday prior to the club's Champions League fixture against Arsenal. Although Kompany was on the sideline for the Wednesday match against the Gunners, he later acknowledged failing to heed physical warning signs while attempting to push through his illness.

Bayern Munich currently sits at the top of the Bundesliga table, level on points with Borussia Dortmund. The team is scheduled to visit Freiburg this coming Sunday. Kompany, who joined the German side from Burnley in 2024, has secured two league titles and reached the Champions League semifinals during his tenure. The club has not provided a specific timeline for his return, noting only that he will be given the necessary time to recover.
