Alexander Volkanovski (28-4) is scheduled to defend his featherweight championship against the undefeated Movsar Evloev (20-0) in the main event of UFC 333 on Oct. 24. This 145-pound championship clash will take place inside Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, anchoring a card that also features a bantamweight title trilogy between Petr Yan (20-5) and Merab Dvalishvili (21-5). UFC officials confirmed both championship pairings on Saturday, marking the return of the 37-year-old Australian champion to the site where he previously reclaimed his throne.

Volkanovski enters the Octagon following a successful title defense in February, where he defeated Diego Lopes by decision. The champion originally lost his featherweight crown to Ilia Topuria in February 2024 but secured the vacant belt in a subsequent bout against Lopes after Topuria transitioned to the lightweight division. Since April 2025, Volkanovski has lobbied for a matchup against an unbeaten challenger, a request granted with the booking of Evloev, who seeks to hand the veteran his fifth professional defeat.

Despite the champion's initial interest in facing Evloev earlier, the promotion prioritized a rematch between Volkanovski and Lopes, forcing the Russian contender to wait until the October event in Abu Dhabi for his championship debut.

Bantamweight Trilogy: Yan vs Dvalishvili

The co-main event features Petr Yan putting his 135-pound strap on the line against Merab Dvalishvili. This bout represents the third meeting between the two fighters, who currently share a 1-1 record against each other. Yan most recently secured a decision victory over Dvalishvili at UFC 323 in December to reclaim the bantamweight title. That win avenged a previous decision loss Yan suffered against Dvalishvili in a non-title contest held in 2023.

Yan’s history with the bantamweight gold began in 2020 when he first became champion, though he surrendered the title in 2021 following a disqualification loss to Aljamain Sterling. After working back through the rankings to upset Dvalishvili in their second fight, the Russian champion now prepares for his first title defense of his current reign. The October 24 event will serve as the first Octagon appearance of the year for both Yan and Dvalishvili.
