Barcelona equalled the best start to a LaLiga season in history by securing a 5-2 victory over Real Betis, marking their ninth consecutive win. Hansi Flick’s side matched a record previously set by Real Madrid in 1968-69. Lamine Yamal opened the scoring in under 10 minutes with a 20-yard curling shot into the top corner. Valentín Gómez equalized for Betis in the 27th minute, heading in a cross from Pablo Fornals, but Rodri restored the lead for Barça in the 41st minute after goalkeeper Álvaro Valles failed to clear a corner.
Following the halftime break, Gabriel Jesus scored Barcelona's third goal off a Yamal assist. Although Abde Ezzalzouli reduced the deficit to 3-2 by springing the offside trap, Real Betis were reduced to 10 men shortly after when Facundo Bernal received a red card for moving his head towards Yamal. The visitors also saw a Giovani Lo Celso volley disallowed for a handball in the build-up during the first half.
Barcelona capitalized on the man advantage in the 62nd minute when Eric García tapped in a cross following a challenge by Pau Cubarsí. Dani Olmo completed the scoring in the 81st minute to secure the three points. The result precedes a week where Barça faces Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League and Real Madrid in El Clásico. Joan García recorded a key save against Héctor Bellerín, while Karim Adeyemi was denied by Valles earlier in the contest.
