Canelo Alvarez (64-3-2, 39 KOs) defeated Christian Mbilli via unanimous decision with scores of 117-110, 116-111, and 115-112 to win the WBC super middleweight belt.

Canelo Alvarez reclaimed the WBC super middleweight championship on Saturday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, defeating Christian Mbilli via unanimous decision. The judges scored the 12-round bout 117-110, 116-111, and 115-112 in favor of the 36-year-old Mexican superstar. This victory marks Alvarez's return to the 168-pound throne after losing the title to Terence Crawford in September 2025.

According to CompuBox data, Alvarez landed 132 power punches compared to 99 for Mbilli. The challenger, who entered the ring undefeated, saw his record fall to 29-1-1. During the eighth round, referee Hector Afu docked a point from Mbilli for landing illegal blows. Despite Mbilli's constant forward movement, he appeared demoralized by the seventh round as Alvarez utilized a defensive strategy orchestrated by head coach Eddy Reynoso.

The fight served as the main event for the "Mexico vs. The World" card. Although Alvarez secured the individual victory, Team World defeated Team Mexico with a final score of 5-4 across nine bouts. Alvarez, who has now spent 16 years as a professional champion, indicated he plans to fight several more times before concluding his career with a final match in Mexico. Potential future opponents mentioned following the win include Hamzah Sheeraz, David Benavidez, or a rematch against Dmitry Bivol.
