Randy Flores was introduced as the 15th general manager of the Houston Astros on Monday following his hire on Friday.

The Houston Astros introduced Randy Flores as the 15th general manager in franchise history on Monday. Flores, who was hired on Friday, replaces Dana Brown after the club cut ties with the former executive on Aug. 24. The move follows a season where the Astros finished 81-81, winning the AL West for the fifth time in six years before being swept by the Chicago White Sox in the Wild Card Series.

Flores joins Houston from the St. Louis Cardinals, where he served as assistant general manager of amateur and pro acquisition. He spent eight seasons as an assistant GM in St. Louis from 2019 to 2026 after initially joining their front office as director of scouting in 2015. During his playing career from 2002 to 2010, the left-handed pitcher recorded an 11-5 record with a 4.61 ERA and four saves across 347 relief appearances and three starts.

Owner Jim Crane confirmed that Flores will immediately oversee the search for a new manager after the team opted not to renew Joe Espada’s contract. During the interim period between Brown’s departure and Flores’ arrival, responsibilities were managed by three assistant general managers and special adviser Jeff Bagwell. Crane stated the team does not intend to undergo a complete roster teardown despite the early postseason exit.
