Eight MLB players received $23.15 million qualifying offers from their respective teams on Monday, according to the Associated Press. The list of recipients includes New York Yankees closer David Bednar, Chicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki, Seattle Mariners outfielder Randy Arozarena, Milwaukee Brewers first baseman/outfielder Jake Bauers, Baltimore Orioles left-hander Trevor Rogers, Minnesota Twins catcher Ryan Jeffers, Pittsburgh Pirates second baseman Brandon Lowe, and San Diego Padres left-hander Adrian Morejon. Players have until Nov. 17 to accept these one-year deals, the value of which is calculated by averaging the top 125 major league contracts from this year.
Several notable players did not receive offers, including Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm. In related roster moves, the Baltimore Orioles declined a $7.5 million option on first baseman Ryan Mountcastle and a $3.5 million option on left-hander Dietrich Enns. Conversely, Arizona Diamondbacks right-hander Corbin Burnes chose not to opt out of the remaining four years of his $210 million contract, while Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Jose Berrios remained in his $131 million deal by declining his opt-out clause.
Additional contract decisions saw Athletics right-hander Luis Severino exercise a $22 million player option for 2027. The Detroit Tigers exercised a $10 million option on Drew Anderson but declined a $12 million option for reliever Kenley Jansen. In Milwaukee, the Brewers exercised a $14.5 million option for World Series MVP William Contreras while declining an $8.5 million mutual option on catcher Gary Sanchez. Meanwhile, Yandy Diaz’s $13 million option with the Tampa Bay Rays vested after he reached 500 plate appearances and was deemed healthy for the 2027 season.
