Brewers ace Jacob Misiorowski is a heavy favorite for the NL Cy Young, while Pete Crow-Armstrong seeks MVP honors after a 40-40 season.
Milwaukee Brewers ace Jacob Misiorowski is one of three finalists for the National League Cy Young Award following the team's World Series title. According to the Associated Press, Misiorowski is joined in the NL Cy Young category by Atlanta Braves left-hander Chris Sale and Philadelphia Phillies southpaw Cristopher Sanchez. The Baseball Writers' Association of America announced the top three vote-getters for all major individual honors on Monday night, with winners scheduled for reveal next week.
In the National League MVP race, Chicago Cubs center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong is expected to win after recording a .280 batting average, 45 home runs, and 41 stolen bases. He faces competition from Milwaukee second baseman Brice Turang and Los Angeles Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani. Brewers manager Pat Murphy is a finalist for NL Manager of the Year alongside Don Mattingly of the Phillies and Walt Weiss of the Braves; Murphy is attempting to win the honor for a third consecutive season.
The American League MVP finalists include Houston slugger Yordan Alvarez, Tampa Bay third baseman Junior Caminero, and Kansas City shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. For the AL Cy Young, the contenders are Toronto right-hander Dylan Cease, Cleveland lefty Parker Messick, and New York Yankees ace Cam Schlittler. Messick is also a finalist for AL Rookie of the Year, a distinction that secures the Guardians an additional draft pick after the first round in 2027.
MLB introduced a new category this year for Relief Pitcher of the Year. The inaugural NL finalists are Milwaukee closer Trevor Megill, Jhoan Duran of the Phillies, and Mason Miller of the Padres. In the American League, the relief honors will go to either Bryan Baker of the Rays, Cade Smith of the Guardians, or Louis Varland of the Blue Jays. AL Manager of the Year candidates include Kevin Cash, Chad Tracy, and Will Venable.
