Braves Secure 24th Division Title With 4-2 Victory Over Houston

Atlanta clinched the NL East championship on Sunday behind a four-run sixth inning and a three-run home run by Mike Yastrzemski.

The Atlanta Braves clinched their seventh NL East championship in nine years on Sunday, defeating the Houston Astros 4-2. Mike Yastrzemski provided the decisive blow with a three-run home run during a four-run sixth inning that gave Atlanta the lead. Left-hander Dylan Dodd secured the title by striking out the side in the bottom of the ninth inning at Houston.

This victory improves Atlanta’s record to 92-64, the third-best mark in the National League. The club has now won at least 90 games in five of the last eight seasons, trailing only the Dodgers and Yankees in that category during the same span. Under first-year manager Walt Weiss, the team rebounded from a 76-86 fourth-place finish in 2023 to secure their 24th division title, tying the Dodgers for the most since the divisional format began in 1969.

Atlanta previously secured a postseason berth on Friday with a 6-2 win over Houston but waited until Sunday to celebrate the division crown. The franchise has now won the NL East 19 times across the last 32 seasons. The Braves currently trail the top two teams in the National League for a first-round playoff bye with six games remaining in the regular season.
