The Milwaukee Brewers secured their first championship in 57 years by defeating the Tampa Bay Rays 4-1 on Wednesday night.

The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 4-1 at Tropicana Field on Wednesday night to win the 2026 World Series in five games. This victory marks the first championship in the franchise's 57-year history. Milwaukee finished the postseason with an 11-2 record after winning a Major League Baseball-best 103 games during the regular season.

Jacob Misiorowski earned the win, throwing five scoreless innings with two strikeouts and four baserunners allowed before exiting in the sixth due to a right calf cramp. Rookie shortstop Cooper Pratt drove in the game's first run with a second-inning single off Rays starter Drew Rasmussen, who was pitching on three days' rest. Pratt finished the night with two hits and a sacrifice fly, while David Hamilton added an RBI single in the fifth. William Contreras, named the World Series MVP, extended the lead in the sixth inning with a double.

The Brewers' bullpen preserved the lead, allowing one run over the final 3⅓ innings. JoJo Romero and Abner Uribe preceded Trevor Megill, who handled the final two frames to secure the win. Milwaukee's relief corps finished the postseason with a 1.34 ERA. The Rays' offense was limited to four hits against Misiorowski and the Milwaukee relief staff.

Manager Pat Murphy led the club to the title following a postseason run that included a division series win over the San Diego Padres and a National League Championship Series victory against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The 2026 title ends a championship drought for the franchise that dated back to its inception, including a previous World Series appearance in 1982.
