William Contreras hit a 436-foot tying home run and an RBI single to lead Milwaukee to a 7-4 victory over Los Angeles on Monday.

The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 7-4 on Monday to take a 2-0 lead in the National League Championship Series. Milwaukee recorded 12 hits, including 10 singles, and scored four runs during the final four innings to secure the win. William Contreras tied the game in the fifth with a 436-foot home run to center field off Kris Bubic before hitting a go-ahead RBI single in the sixth. The Brewers bullpen, featuring Dustin May, JoJo Romero, Abner Uribe, and Aaron Ashby, combined to retire the final 15 Dodgers batters in order.

Los Angeles starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto lasted only 2 2/3 innings, his shortest career postseason start, allowing three runs and three hits. The Dodgers took three separate leads during the first five innings but finished the game 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position. Logan Henderson started for Milwaukee and allowed four runs—two earned—over four innings, aided by two of his own throwing errors. Christian Yelich provided a key two-run single in the third inning to briefly put the Brewers ahead 3-2.

The decisive sixth inning began when David Hamilton reached base after being hit by a Brock Stewart pitch. Hamilton advanced to second on a Stewart throwing error during a pickoff attempt and scored on the Contreras single. Milwaukee added insurance in the eighth inning with RBI singles from Brice Turang and Jake Bauers. The series moves to Los Angeles for Game 3 on Wednesday, where Robert Gasser is expected to start for the Brewers.
