The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 5-4 on Saturday night to take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven World Series. Despite falling into a 4-0 hole in the first inning, Milwaukee’s pitching staff held Tampa Bay scoreless for the final eight frames. Shortstop Cooper Pratt drove in the winning run with an RBI single to right field in the seventh inning against reliever Kevin Kelly.

Sal Frelick tied the game 4-4 in the sixth inning with a solo home run off left-handed reliever Ian Seymour. The blast came on the ninth pitch of the at-bat. Milwaukee began its comeback in the bottom of the first inning with RBI hits from William Contreras and Garrett Mitchell. In the fourth, Pratt scored from third base to bring the Brewers within one run after Rays first baseman Jonathan Aranda misplayed a ground ball.

Milwaukee’s offense forced Rays starter Drew Rasmussen out of the game after 3⅔ innings. The Brewers hitters fouled off 45 pitches throughout the contest and recorded five stolen bases. On the mound, Logan Henderson started for Milwaukee, while the bullpen provided six innings of scoreless relief. Aaron Ashby earned the save and has yet to allow a run during the current postseason.

Pratt’s decisive hit followed a first-inning fielding error that contributed to the Rays' early four-run burst. The victory marks the second time in three games that the Brewers have won after trailing 4-0. The series now moves forward with Milwaukee two wins away from a championship.
