Case Keenum was the only active roster quarterback to practice Wednesday as the Chicago Bears prepare for a Week 3 matchup against Philadelphia.
Case Keenum took all first-team repetitions during a two-hour practice session on Wednesday, positioning the 38-year-old veteran to potentially start for the Chicago Bears against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 3. The 15-year journeyman is the next option at quarterback after starter Caleb Williams was sidelined with a hamstring injury and backup Tyson Bagent entered the NFL's five-step concussion protocol. Undrafted rookie Miller Moss, currently on the practice squad, served as the backup during Wednesday's drills.
Keenum, who signed a two-year, $5.5 million contract after coming out of retirement in 2025, has not started a regular-season game since Weeks 15 and 16 of the 2023 season with the Houston Texans. Despite his recent role as a third-string option, Keenum holds a career 3-0 record against Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio. Throughout his career, which includes stints with eight different teams since 2012, Keenum has recorded 15,175 passing yards and 79 touchdowns across 66 starts.
Bagent reported concussion symptoms on Tuesday following a fourth-quarter hit by Vikings linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel and was absent from Halas Hall on Wednesday. Williams is currently classified as week-to-week, though coach Ben Johnson has not officially ruled him out for the upcoming game. If Keenum is named the starter, it will mark his first appearance since Chicago's three preseason games earlier this year.
