Christian Yelich hit a two-run single up the middle in the bottom of the third inning to give the Milwaukee Brewers a 3-2 lead over the Los Angeles Dodgers. The hit followed a 12-pitch walk by Jake Bauers, who fouled off six consecutive pitches against Yoshinobu Yamamoto to load the bases. Following Yelich's RBI single, the Dodgers removed Yamamoto from the game.
Los Angeles initially took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a Teoscar Hernández RBI, but William Contreras tied the game for Milwaukee in the bottom half of the frame. The Dodgers regained a 2-1 advantage in the top of the third inning following an errant pickoff throw and a fielding error by shortstop Cooper Pratt. During that inning, Dodgers hitters recorded four batted balls against Logan Henderson with exit velocities exceeding 95 mph, including a flyout to the warning track caught by Sal Frelick.
This Game 2 matchup follows a Game 1 victory by the Brewers in the National League Championship Series. The Dodgers entered the contest as two-time defending champions attempting to avoid a 2-0 series deficit. In the American League, the Cleveland Guardians and Tampa Bay Rays also began their series opener on October 12, 2026.
