Daniels suffered a dislocated left elbow on the final play of the first half after his foot was stepped on, causing him to fall backward and attempt to brace himself with his arm. Athletic trainers popped the joint back into place on the field while the team headed toward the locker room for the 13-minute halftime interval.

Coach Dan Quinn stated that officials pressured the team to clear the field to avoid delaying the half, despite players expressing a desire to remain with their quarterback. One player noted that a referee informed him there were only eight minutes of halftime remaining, necessitating their departure. Left tackle Brandon Coleman and receiver Terry McLaurin emphasized that the team waited on the sideline until the medical staff situated Daniels, with Coleman noting that he and Josh Conerly Jr. were among the last to leave alongside backup quarterbacks Marcus Mariota and Athan Kaliakmanis.
