Cris Cyborg Amasses 30th Win With Unanimous Decision Over Ketlen Vieira

Cris Cyborg earned her 10th consecutive victory at PFL Tampa, defeating Ketlen Vieira via scores of 49-46, 49-46, and 48-47.

Cris Cyborg (30-2, 1 NC) became the first woman in mixed martial arts history to reach 30 career victories on Saturday night at PFL Tampa. The 41-year-old veteran secured a unanimous decision over Brazilian countrywoman Ketlen Vieira with judges’ scorecards reading 49-46, 49-46, and 48-47. Despite the PFL women's featherweight champion's victory, the five-round main event was contested as a nontitle bout after Vieira weighed in at 152.2 pounds on Friday. Cyborg outstruck her opponent by a total volume of 202-106 and extended her current winning streak to 10 consecutive fights.

Statistical data from the contest shows Cyborg landed 119 of the 159 punches she threw, while Vieira connected on 73 of 175 attempts. The disparity was most significant in the kicking department, where Cyborg landed 56 kicks compared to just six from Vieira. The 34-year-old Vieira, currently ranked No. 3 in ESPN’s women's 135-pound rankings, made her PFL debut following a stint as a UFC bantamweight contender. Although Cyborg holds titles in Strikeforce, Invicta FC, the UFC, and Bellator, she remains unranked by ESPN due to the absence of a women's featherweight category.

Momentum Shifts and Physical Toll

Vieira challenged the legend early, wobbling Cyborg in the second round and utilizing top position in the fourth to land punches that bloodied the champion. The underdog outmuscled Cyborg during several stretches, snapping her head back with heavy strikes and maintaining positional control. Cyborg deviated from her usual aggressive style, which has earned her 21 career knockouts, to instead circle her opponent while landing single body shots and leg kicks. This tactical shift allowed the veteran to evade high-volume exchanges and gradually build momentum through the final rounds.

Cyborg entered the cage with the stipulation that she would vacate her 145-pound belt had she lost the fight. The victory marks eight years without a defeat for the fighter, who has now won championships in five major MMA promotions. The PFL billed the event as a potential retirement bout, as it served as the final fight on Cyborg’s current contract with the organization. However, the champion expressed a desire to continue her career during post-fight interviews.

Future Challenges and Personal Milestones

Following the decision, Cyborg issued challenges to two prominent champions: UFC women's bantamweight titleholder Kayla Harrison and undisputed heavyweight boxing champion Claressa Shields. "I’m ready for anybody, anytime, any weight," Cyborg stated, emphasizing her eight-year undefeated run. The fighter noted that her next immediate priority is returning home to support her daughter, who is expected to give birth soon, a milestone that will make Cyborg a grandmother.

While the PFL Tampa main event may serve as Cyborg's swan song for the promotion, her performance against a heavier opponent showcased her ability to persevere through five tough rounds. Vieira's weight miss of over seven pounds shifted the stakes, yet Cyborg maintained her composure to land nearly double the total strikes of her opponent. The 10th straight win solidifies her status as the only athlete to hold gold in every major organization she has competed in, further extending her record-breaking career totals.
