Dak Prescott Surpasses Tony Romo for Cowboys All-Time Passing Touchdown Record

Dak Prescott became the Dallas Cowboys' all-time leader in touchdown passes with 249 career scores during a 37-20 win over the Washington Commanders.

Dak Prescott completed 26 of 31 passes for 279 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Dallas Cowboys to a 37-20 victory over the Washington Commanders. The performance secured the team's first win of the 2026 season and moved Prescott past Tony Romo for the franchise record in career passing touchdowns. Prescott now holds the top spot with 249 scores, surpassing Romo's previous mark of 248.

The record-breaking play occurred in the fourth quarter on a 24-yard touchdown pass to CeeDee Lamb, who caught the ball against cornerback Mike Sainristil. This marked the 39th time Prescott and Lamb have connected for a score, the highest total for any duo in Prescott's career. Earlier in the game, Prescott threw a 3-yard touchdown to Lamb and two scores to tight end Jake Ferguson, measuring 10 and 12 yards respectively.

In addition to his passing production, Prescott rushed four times for 26 yards. The 33-year-old quarterback, who is signed through 2028, already holds franchise records for passing yards, completions, attempts, passer rating, and completion percentage. Following the game, coach Brian Schottenheimer and owner Jerry Jones recognized the 11th-year veteran, who was originally a fourth-round draft pick in 2016. Despite the individual milestone, Prescott noted his primary remaining goal is to win a Super Bowl, joining the ranks of Hall of Famers Roger Staubach and Troy Aikman.
